Going forth and initiation into “silent illumination”
The death of a dear friend in 1972 brings sudden insight into suffering and impermanence. Takes ordination the following year, on the 19th day of the 9th lunar month, the day commemorating the going forth of Guanyin. Immediately thereafter takes the Triple Platform Full Ordination at Fayun Monastery in Miaoli and is instructed in the “silent illumination” meditation practice of the Caodong School of Chan. |
